I had to think on if my poor experience was me being sensitive but I still have a bad feeling hours after leaving. I literally grew up loving this store but won’t be returning now. I should’ve said something at the store. After browsing for different healing gems and trinkets for a grieving friends birthday, the older woman approached me, stopped and just stared at me. I asked a question, she acted standoffish and offered me a tray to shop, I said oh thank you! She then paused and said yeah…we’re gonna keep this at the counter. I was not acting shifty. I’m Buddhist Japanese and they are a bunch of white women selling from my culture. I was taking time looking at cheaper items but that does not make me a criminal. When I checked out I asked to see the chains for a pendant and they would only show me the “cheapy” chains despite showing the blonde girl right next to me and several other customers the nice jewelry. Acting awkward as if they were told to keep an eye on me. Overall felt racially discriminated against for what? Not sure. I was walking around with some cheaper items trying to decide and yes they have no way of knowing my intentions but I was dressed nicely, am an Asian woman, healthcare professional in my 30s and no other store on Hawthorne treated me that way today or my whole life honestly. I regret spending money there especially after being treated as unable to afford nice things when I would’ve spent more on a nice chain lol. Zero stars.

This is my go to place for gifts, been going here for years and they never disappoint. They staff are professional , helpful and friendly. You can always find new things there everytime you go in.

The Gold Door owner and staff go above and beyond with service! I bought an Oregon sunstone ring for my partner end of January. A few weeks ago, the stone popped out of the setting after it got caught on something. We brought it back and asked what it would cost to get repaired or replaced. They said it will take a week to ten days for repair work and that it shouldn’t cost anything. We got it back today, no charge! The stone and ring seemed to be even more brilliant and shiny. The jeweler worked some magic!
